Nose: Mediterranean notes of savoury ratatouille, sundried tomato, olive tapenade, Moroccan spices and charcoal roasted roast game. Balancing the savoury notes are aromatic blueberries, exotic red fruits, perfumed cranberry and fresh pomegranate.
Palate: A delightfully complex amalgam of savoury green olives, pepperoni with a hint of sweet/salty Dutch liquorice. Soft blue fruits to the fore with textured tannins providing grip. An expansive palate gives this wine generosity and presence.

Appealing char and creamy, vanillin oak detected ever-so-subtly in the background. Naturally, a flurry of fruits, spice and varietal markers abound. In a couple of words, voluminous and powerful. A sensory stratification of layers of taste – separated via time-of-detection and unravelling of flavours. At first, Christmas pudding with roasted nuts, then rare lamb and black olives, then sarsaparilla spice. Tannins awashed, oak absorbed, fruit awakened.

Beneath: Subtle forest floor earthiness, laced with liquorice, fennel and anise with a sceric of non-aggressive fresh spearmint.
Above: Sugar pastille wafts – somewhat reminiscent of the fruit bon bons of youth… more prescriptively/realistically – blackcurrant jelly bean.
In between: Summer pudding fruit generosity – suggestive of a cherry clafoutis? Or maybe a fleshy red cherry trifle, avec sponge cake? Yes please.
Absorbed: Stylish/coiffured oak
Palate
Bountiful red cabernet fruits complexed by cut tobacco (pouch) and darkened spices. Seamless, with a tightness/tension between acidity and tannins. These tannins are ripe and friendly – currently perceived as fruit, not oak tannins.

Nose: Florals instantly arise – violet sits aside a diverse cottage garden mix; a floral bouquet pleasantly spiced with mineral elements. A coulis of mulberry and blueberry. Very Magill! Untangling the oak contribution not quite as straightforward ...a pistachio nuttiness/creaminess (for the purists, more baklava than terrine). Complex. Engaging.
Palate: Balanced, fresh, alluring. Succulent, mouth-watering acidity coupled with fine, feathery tannins – all in tandem with the wine’s medium-bodied engagement. Cherry and pistachio (nougat) and cranberry (muesli bar) flavours spark interest. Palate: Taut in texture, fine tannin with a savoury profile. Cranberry represents the red fruit spectrum, with lingering flavours of yellow plum, bay leaf and sage. Root vegetable earthiness is evident on the finish. Structurally framed by beautifully integrated French and American oak, present but rarely mentioned.
